This means that they are an alloy stainless steel making them more impervious to high temperatures that exhaust components are subjected to on vehicles. T-304 stainless can eventually fatigue after repeated expanding and contracting, but ferritic stainless will not because of the small amount of mild steel and iron that is combined with the stainless.
